Grass Valley Organics is growing into a teaching farm.
The future depends on how we live now.
Sustainable practices must be taught now and practiced always.
examples include:
Resource management and most effective uses
Water conservation, soil rebuilding and waste reduction
Permaculture farming test sites being established and researched,
aquaponics, hydroponics, aquaculture, aeroponics, vermaculture, composting, food forest planning & planting, greenhouse production
alternative building techniques, earthen living or really getting dirty with cob, clay & soil and we are open to any ideas.
Energy generation and conservation will be researched and developed.
solar heat and power, wood gasification, compost heat and methane production, bio-fuels, etc.
We are just starting out in this business (lifestyle) and so, not yet open to the public at this time, but we hope to conduct permaculture classes here soon.
The farm is under development and growing slowly, but we are growing!
I have a lot more ground work ahead. Lucky for me, some of it involves driving a tractor and I love my tractor ;-)
